Context

Crowdfunding and sourcing platforms are a perfect way to get a crowd behind your idea. However, it costs a lot of time!

Inspiration

We were inspired by initiatives like VoorJeBuurt and Soup Detroit. Both see the value of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing as well as a possibility to go around the formal funding system.

Concept

Boiling is thé ammunition room for impatient city makers. It offers initiators the opportunity to pitch ideas and get instant funding along with lessons, tips, material and direct help from the crowd. Dream big, start small…that kind of thing. The city maker with the best idea takes home all the donations doubled by our partners. More importantly, all the pitchers receive valuable ammunition from the crowd to get their idea to the next phase.

The rules

Boiling visitors donate €10 as an entry fee
Four city makers pitch their idea in 5 minutes with 5 images
The crowd listens to the pitches, enjoys a small bite to eat, and vote
All initiatives receive crowd support through the voting ballot that consists of a voting point (voting), tipping point (tips, contacts, material, space etc) and boiling point (helping hands)
All city makers go home with ammunition and the winner goes home with all the donated money doubled by our partners
