24 hours to come up with designs for the wallpaper of an area in transition

Context

An area in a transition period lacks livability and doesn’t reflect the creativity of its inhabitants.

Concept

We asked a commission to select artists to participate in a creative hekkenthon (based on Hackathon). The artists stayed in the area and had 24 hours to come up with designs for the construction fences. Afterwords, the three designs were made public online and everybody was able to vote for their favorite design.

The winner was Munir de Vries who created funky characters to walk alongside you towards the future. The work also made it possible for others in the area to create their own characters. And to sum it all up, there was a beautiful light show behind each character.
