Turning ArenAPoort into a more vibrant centre, collectively

Context

The area that runs from the Johan Cruijff ArenA to the Amsterdamse Poort is the beating heart of Zuidoost. It will go through a fierce transformation process in the upcoming years. A new theatre and an international school as well as a renewed shopping district and housing blocks will soon be forming the new reality in the area.

Concept

As a part of a collaborative force named 11 United, we search for the ambition and energy of the people with whom we collectively turn ideas into projects that are all about connection.

Contribution

We The City is a proud member of 11 United along with Vinger.nl, Pop-Up City and Thismightbelu. We work together on an assignment from the city of Amsterdam that entails the following:

Let both sides of the tracks (Entertainment Area and the Shopping Area) take more advantage of each other’s strength.
Add intimacy and local influences to an area that is dominated by massive buildings, events and corporations.
Keep the area liveable and lively during constructions (and the transformation phase).

Results

We worked together with 85 organizations (63 from Amsterdam Southeast) and raised €71.233 in terms of cofinance and reached an estimated media value of €325.000.
