HOBU

Transforming a grey office area into a vibrant and unique part of Amsterdam

hobu.png

Context

Amstel III is the classic isolated office area where grey buildings and parked cars are the main characters. However, this area will radically change into a vibrant mixed use district with approximately 17.000 houses.

Concept

HOBU is a collective named in reference to Holendrecht and Bullewijk, the subway stations that form the links between two areas divided by the metro and train tracks. We search for the ambition and energy of the people with whom we can collectively turn ideas into projects that are all about connection.

Contribution

We The City is a proud member of HOBU. We work on an assignment from the city of Amsterdam that entails the following:

  1. The Inviting City

    • Amstel III offers space to experiment. Initiators are invited to be creative and innovative.

    • Show that Amstel III will be a place where you can live.

  2. The Healthy City

    • Sports will be an integral part of the development of Amstel III.

    • Focus on relaxation and entertainment to strengthen the healthy city.

  3. The Connected City

    • Connect Amstel III with the neighboring housing areas. The tracks form the future backbone of Zuidoost.

    • Ensure that the living environment remains comfortable during the construction.

HOBU always works with local ambitious parties. Together, we initiated over 40 projects from De Hekkenton and De Grote Wisseltruck to Poetry Enlighted and De Hullenberg.
