Wandelclub der Stadslezers
At times when everyone seems to live in their own bubble, Walkingclub of City Readers challenges you to walk far beyond your own perspective.
Context
I really want to be a reader, but I’m not. The promise of a book expanding your perspective and strengthening empathy really spoke to me. Which made me think. In stead of reading a book, you can also read a chapter of a city. And in stead of looking trough the eyes of fictional character, you can look trough the eyes of remarkable fellow urbanites (which can also include animals).
Contribution
From my position at RAUM Utrecht, I’ve set up a collective of organizations I admire. Organizations that have the ability to show cities from a completely different perspective. Together, we form the Walkingclub of Cityreaders.
Step into the shoes of an “sticker artist”, refugee, night walker, city pigeon or sunken tunnel. Look through the eyes of an eel while snorkling, experience wide walled silence in the middle of the roaring city and truly feel the limits of living with a disability. Experience the city also as a migrant, loitering youth, ten-year-old girl, “couple on a bench”, urban nomad, “time”, or as an unintended, artist.
Each walk opens a different perspective. So for all you living in the Netherlands and Belgium... check the website, tie your laces, book a nice selection of walks & let's go!
